- We developed a software tool–INTERIORS–to simplify the plant management through offering fully linked 2D and 3D plant information.
- In INTERIORS, drawings, models, and point cloud are integrated on the basis of plant objects and relationships among them, all interrelated plant information is automatically displayed on screen once an object is selected.
- Objects shown in 2D drawings are projections from 3D models, and 3D models are constructed according to the point cloud produced in Laser scan, such an object-derivation relationship is embedded in INTERIORS database, which enables quick searching and correct mapping among drawings, models, and point cloud.
- Web and client-server based INTERIORS naturally enhances plant information sharing and simplifies information updating.
- Annotations marked in point cloud and 3D models provide a convenient way to pass information between shifts or among sites in on-line meetings, and even to denote maintenance work needed.
